Upon request, the Celtics will not be honoring Isaiah Thomas with a tribute video Wednesday night at TD Garden.
The Cavaliers point guard asked his former team to skip it, according to a Celtics spokesman. Thomas, who will make his Cavs debut Tuesday night against the Blazers, will be in attendance on Wednesday but will not be in uniform.
Thomas is still recovering from a hip injury that has sidelined him throughout the regular season thus far, he'll will be on a minutes-restriction Tuesday as Cleveland will slowly ease him into their starting lineup by having him sit out on the second leg of a back-to-back.
The Celtics plan on postponing the tribute, which could be moved to Feb. 11 -- the next and final time during the regular season the Cavaliers come to Boston. It's also the same night the Celtics will retire Paul Pierce's No. 34.
