Rockets 93 - Celtics 87: Motiejunas Spoils C's Rally

Photo: Getty Images

Boston - It was only the Celtics' sixth home tilt of the new year, in a busy January; where 15 games in 30 days have probably taken it's toll on the young C's. They returned to the TD Garden in what seemed like a run away victory for Kevin McHale's Rockets, Boston fought back but it wasn't enough as Houston held on to a 93-87 win on Friday night.

Pierce been following the Pats 'Religiously'

Photo: Paul Pierce's Instagram

Former Celtics captain Paul Pierce has made it no secret who he is rooting for in this Sunday's Super Bowl.

In case you forgot, 'The Truth' reminded New Englanders who he's been following despite not being in Boston anymore, when he caught up with Comcast Sports Net New England last night, while the Washington Wizards were taking on the Phoenix Suns at the US Airway Center.

Timberwolves 110 - Celtics 98: Martin leads Minnesota Past C's

Minneapolis - The Celtics could not have asked for a better opponent to face for a chance to go 4-2 on the toughest road trip of the season. While the Timberwolves had only won seven games in 44 tries, a returning Kevin Martin proved to be a key missing link for fans at the Target Center to get behind their struggling team and grab a 110-98 victory over Boston.

Warriors 114 - Celtics 111: Golden State snaps C's win Streak

Photo: Getty Images

Oakland - Despite the momentum being on the Warriors' side after an historic performance by Klay Thompson on Friday night, and a 18-game home winning streak, how could the Celtics compete with that? Especially since they were taking on the team with the league's best record, but the young C's held their own, and rallied to make the Oracle Arena fans work to cheer Golden State to a 114-111 victory on Sunday night.

Playoff Bound? Celtics in Prime Position to Make Playoff Push.

Photo : Getty Images

No Rondo. No Green. No Problem?

Well, not really. The Celtics are only 6-12 since Rondo was traded in December. Six games under .500, that's compared to the 9-14 record with Rondo on the team to start the year, or five games under .500. Maybe the 12 post-Rondo losses seem a lot more painful now as we watch Rajon Rondo flourish with his new playoff bound team in Dallas, but lets face it this team isn't that much worse off record wise without Rondo running the offense.

Celtics 100 - Nuggets 99: Bradley Shoots the C's Past Denver

Denver - The Celtics were still riding an emotional wave from Portland into the Pepsi Center less than 24 hours later, and looking to win two in a row. This time it was Avery Bradley who hit a clutch jumper to keep the C's up for good in a 100-99 win over the Nuggets.

Celtics 90 - Trail Blazers 89: C's Get First Win Out West

Photo: Getty Images
Portland - Another clutch three-pointer from Evan Turner while the game was on the line for the Boston Celtics. Only this time around there was no overtime, only a shocking 90-89 victory for the C's at the Moda Center.

Turner finished with 10 points (2-of-4 from 3) to go along with 8 assists and six boards, but no shot bigger than the 3-ball dagger that ended up being the game winner with one second remaining, to snap the Celtics 24-game losing streak on the road to the Western Conference.

Jared Sullinger, who missed the three-point attempt in the closing seconds, dove onto the floor for the loose ball and found a wide open Turner in the corner for one more shot, Sully finished with 17 points and 9 rebounds (5 offensive).

Celtics Worth $1.7 Billion

Photo: Getty Images

As it stands, despite the 13-26 current record of the Boston Celtics, they are worth way more than most would have ever guessed.

According to Forbes the C's are estimated to be valued at $1.7 billion dollars, which is good for fourth as far as top valuable franchises in the NBA. An increase of 94-percent from last year, and a little more than the recently purchased Los Angeles Clippers, and their $2 billion dollar price tag (valued at only $1.6 billion).

The Celtics, losers of two straight, came into the Staples Center desperate for a win. Doc Rivers (2-0) looked to stay undefeated against his old team and after blowing a 23-point lead, the Clippers looked to their backcourt to get a 102-93 win on MLK Day.

According to Ken Berger of CBSSports.com, Prince could be leaving the Celtics via a buyout to join the Clippers, one of a few teams interested in acquiring Prince.

Or he could stay with the Celtics, this all be decided this week when Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge sits down with Prince in Los Angeles.

Bulls 119 - Celtics 103: Rose lead Bulls past C's

Photo: Getty Images

Boston - Coming off a season-high 32 points in a losing effort against Washington, Derrick Rose's double-double against the Celtics was enough to put them away in the second half in an 119-103 win over the Celtics

Rose scored 29 points (5-of-8 from 3) and dished out 10 assists in a Bulls' victory last night at TD Garden. He scored 20 of his 29-points in the second half in one of his best performances of the season. Pau Gasol scored 14 of his 20 points in the third quarter and finished with 11 rebounds.

Podcast - Ainge State of Mind

Photo: Getty Images

In this first episode of the 2015, Joel & Josue from CausewayStreetBlog.com discuss the current state of the Boston Celtics after their fourth trade in four weeks (now fifth trade as of Thursday). They debate whether Danny Ainge will sign free agents, trade for a big name or just simply build through the draft for the next few years. You be the judge. Where do the C's go from here after trading away their leading scorer in Jeff Green to Memphis? Who's next on the trading block? All of this plus some NBA talk on this latest podcast. Enjoy.

Hawks 105 - Celtics 91: C's Unable to Snap Atlanta's Win Streak

Photo: Getty Images

Boston - The Celtics came into the TD Garden owning one of only eight Atlanta losses so far. Of course it was a slightly different team in green pre-Rondo trade, the first time these two met. This time around the Hawks were winners of nine straight, and at the top of the Eastern Conference, while the C's had just traded away their leading scorer two-nights ago. History was made on Wednesday night, as Boston became the tenth straight victim of the red hot Hawks, a feat that had not been achieved in 17-years after a 105-91 victory over the home team.

Celtics heading towards 2015 NBA Draft Lottery

Photo: Getty Images

This season, the Celtics have gone from fighting for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference to becoming one of the worst teams in the NBA.

After losing nine of their last 11 games, Celtics (12-23), are now seventh in the NBA Draft Lottery standings. The C's are not far behind Utah (13-25) and Orlando (13-27), and could be a top five lottery team by the end of the season.

Report: Austin Rivers may be heading to the Clippers

Sports Illustrated

This Jeff Green deal just won't end, and continues to get weirder.

Less than 12 hours after the Grizzlies and Pelicans agreed to a three-team deal with the Celtics that included Jeff Green, Tayshaun Prince, Quincy Pondexter, Austin Rivers and a first-round pick, Clippers coach and president of basketball operations Doc Rivers is reportedly interested in trading for his son.

Raptors 109 - Celtics 96: Lowry, Raptors outplay C's in 2nd half

Photo: Chris Young (The Canadian Press)

After losing four straight, the Toronto Raptors needed a win against the Celtics to stay afloat in the upper echelon of the Eastern Conference.

All-star Kyle Lowry's 19 points led six Raptors in double-digits in a 109-96 win over Boston. Louis Williams scored 19 of his own off the bench for Toronto and James Johnson put together a double-double, 15 points and 10 rebounds.

The Celtics offense looked great from the start.

Ainge Continues to Play it 'Smart'

Photo: AP/Charles Krupa
Before I delve into how much I love Marcus Smart, yesterday had a flurry of activity from the Celtics front office with two trades being announced within hours of each other. First Brandan Wright was traded to the Phoenix Suns in exchange for a Minnesota first round pick, top 12 protected in 2015 and 2016. It's likely the Timberwolves will be in the bottom 12 for the next two years, this pick will most likely turn into two-second round picks in 2016 and 2017.

Wright to the Suns, Green Memphis Bound

Photos: Getty Images

The Boston Celtics continue to stay busy on the trade front as they look towards the future. After trading away their captain Rajon Rondo last month, it was only a matter of time for the next shoe to drop. Danny Ainge took another step in the rebuilding phase this afternoon, when sources revealed that one player acquired from the Dallas swap just three-weeks ago; Brandan Wright; could be on the move again.

Report: Memphis Grizzlies interested in Jeff Green

The Grizzlies, 25-10, are also interested in Miami Heat forward Luol Deng, says Stein. However, the Heat are not sure if they want to trade Deng. If Memphis can't swing a deal for Deng, they will settle for Green instead.

Celtics 89 - Nets 81: C's get their first win of the New Year

Photo: Getty Images

The Boston Celtics came into the Barclays Center win-less in 2015. They looked to snap a three-game skid and avenge a Nets loss from a few weeks ago. Despite not putting up a lot of points on the board, the C's held the home team to a new season low in a 89-81 victory in Brooklyn on Wednesday night.

Is Olynyk a part of the Celtics Plans?

Photo: Getty Images

In the aftermath of the Rajon Rondo trade, it’s time to look to the future and examine how current Celtics big man Kelly Olynyk is doing in his second NBA season so far. There have been great stretches for Olynyk this season especially in the month of December (13.5 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 54-percent from the field, and 34-percent from the 3) in 26 minutes as a sixth-man, once he lost his starting job. But he also had low-scoring games and at times has been benched like the first three games in 2015 (2.3 PPG, 3 RPG, 14.3 minutes per game).

Bulls 109 - Celtics 104 (OT): Gasol, Bulls beat Celtics in OT

Photo: Associated Press

Pau Gasol's 29 points and 16 rebounds spoiled Evan Turner's huge homecoming outing, and led the Bulls to a 109-104 overtime victory.

Turner's 23 second half points is what kept the game close for the Celtics. The Chicago native collected 29 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds. It was one of Turner's best games of the season. But unfortunately the Bulls closed the door on the Celtics in overtime, outscoring the C's, 10-5 in the extra period.

An uninspired Rondo hasn't played defense in years

Photo: Winslow Townson (USA TODAY)
Former Celtics captain Rajon Rondo admitted Friday morning what a lot of people were already speculating since his comeback from ACL surgery: He wasn't trying.
"I haven't played defense in a couple of years," Rondo said.
I knew it. We all did.

Last season, when Rondo returned from his ACL injury, people were cutting him slack, and it was rightfully so.

A Look Back at Rajon Rondo as a Celtic

In the first game of 2015, Rajon Rondo shined as only he could at the TD Garden on Friday night. In his return to Boston against his former team after being traded to the Dallas Mavericks just two weeks ago could be summed up in one word: Tiresome

Mavericks 119 - Celtics 101: Rondo returns to Boston, lights up C's

Photo: ESPN
Celtics fans waited for almost two years to see Rajon Rondo return to his old form, so when he did Friday night at TD Garden in a Dallas Mavericks uniform, fans still enjoyed his nostalgic performance.

In his best game since tearing his ACL, Rondo started off by scoring 10 points in less than five minutes. He finished the opening quarter with 15 of his season-high 29 points. Rondo knocked down a career-high five three pointers and finished with 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
