Although it took 12 tries, the Celtics finally defeated the Spurs for the first time since 2011.
Kyrie Irving shined throughout the night on both ends of the floor, leading the Celtics to a second-half rout before the Spurs pulled closer before the final buzzer for a respectable 14-point loss, 108-94.
Marcus Morris, who was looking to make his regular season debut against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night, has been sent for assignment to the G-League.
According to ESPN, coach Brad Stevens suggested the Celtics forward needed a "good hard practice" before playing in his first real game.

The NBA have granted the Celtics with an $8.4 million disabled-player exception for Gordon Hayward's leg injury.
According to Shams Charania of The Vertical, Danny Ainge can use the DPE to sign a free agent or trade for a player in the final year of their contract by March 10 deadline.

In four games, he's averaging 11.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4 assists a night -- excellent numbers for a point guard entering his third year and who has now become Kyrie Irving's backup.

The Celtics and 76ers entered the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia thirsty for their first win of the season Friday night and needless to say both teams turned in one of the uglier basketball games you're going to see this year.
But as the old saying goes, "a win's a win," and for a beaten and battered Celtics team, it was one they desperately needed as they topped the 76ers, 102-92 and escaped a 0-3 start to their 2017-18 campaign.
It looks like the Celtics will be adding another player to their inactive list before facing the 76ers Friday night.
After undergoing surgery for the fractured tibia/dislocation of his left ankle, Gordon Hayward is in great spirits and can't wait to get started on his rehab, according to head coach Brad Stevens.
There weren't a lot of positive takeaways from the Celtics' 108-100 loss against the Bucks on Wednesday.
Bucks forward Giannis Antetokunmpo had his way against the Celtics' lackluster defense, Kyrie Irving (7-of-25) and Marcus Smart (4-of-13) combined for a woeful 11-for-38 from the field and for the second consecutive night Boston blew a fourth-quarter lead. But one of the few bright spots of the evening for the Celtics came from their bench.

There are only a handful of players in the NBA that can impact the outcome of a game from start to finish and on Tuesday night the Celtics faced off against one of them.
Just five minutes into his Celtics debut and Gordon Hayward was taken out on a stretcher after falling on his left ankle, while attempting to catch an alley-oop pass from teammate Kyrie Irving.
The Celtics confirmed the injury to be a dislocated left ankle, plus a fractured tibia and the All-Star forward was flown immediately back to Boston for further examination

The Celtics will not be inking Marcus Smart to a contract extension before Monday's deadline, according to Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe.
After arriving late to training camp last month, Celtics forward Marcus Morris is now expected to miss the first 10 days of the regular season due to soreness in his right knee.

Former Celtics All-Star Isaiah Thomas is still coming to grips with the summer blockbuster deal that landed him in Cleveland.
In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated's Lee Jenkins, Thomas revealed that he may not ever talk to Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge again, and that he shouldn't have played a single game of the postseason.

Marcus Smart is entering year four of his rookie deal and while he is currently the longest tenured Celtic, the veteran guard will like to remain in Boston, long-term.
According to The Vertical's Shams Charania, Smart informed him on Monday that his agent, Happy Walters, has yet to hear from the Celtics front office on a possible contract extension.

Celtics forward Marcus Morris and twin brother Markieff were found not guilty of aggravated assault charges in a Maricopa County District Court in Phoenix, Arizona.
Former USC football Gerald Bowman, who was arrested in connection to the night in question back in 2015, was also found not guilty.
