Celtics Pregame: Marcus Morris ruled out against Timberwolves

Marcus Morris will not play against the Timberwolves at TD Garden Friday night due to "knee rehab," per Brad Stevens.

Morris, who has been battling soreness in his left knee all season long, will make the trip to Brooklyn with the Celtics but isn't going to face Minnesota due to the back-to-back set. He's been making progress towards being fully healthy but will have to watch from the sidelines on Friday as Boston will have its hands full against the Timberwolves.

With the fourth best record in the Western Conference, the Timberwolves (24-15) should be one of the Celtics' tougher opponents. Newly acquired All-Star Jimmy Butler reuniting with his former head coach Tom Thibodeau has been a successful transition -- he's averaging 21.8 points, while shooting 47.3 to go with his 5 assists per game and gritty one-on-one defense.

As one of the best big men in the league, Karl-Anthony Towns along with Andrew Wiggins in the front court is where the Celtics will certainly miss Morris' defensive prowess. Boston will look to make it five wins in a row before heading to Brooklyn Saturday.
