Report: Celtics exercise 2022-23 team options on Romeo Langford, Grant Williams

The Celtics have exercised their fourth-year options on Romeo Langford and Grant Williams, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and The Athletic Shams Charania respectively.

The deadline for teams to exercise rookie scale options was Monday, November 1, instead of the original October 31 date in any given year.

The Celtics also exercised their third year rookie-scale team options on Payton Pritchard and Aaron Nesmith.

Boston was able to pick up the options on these four players as they were first round draft picks in back-to-back years. Danny Ainge selected Langford with the No. 14th pick and Williams at No. 22 back in the 2019 NBA Draft. Aaron Nesmith was taken at No. 14, while Pritchard was chosen with the No. 26th pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

At 6-foot-4, Langford has provided some depth at the wing when healthy and over the past two seasons has averaged 2.9 points and 1.6 rebounds in 53 games played (six starts).

Williams has played in 138 games (16 starts) for the Celtics and at 6-foot-6 has made strides playing the power forward and center position. He's averaged 4.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 16.8 minutes per contest.

Pritchard became a regular in the rotation during his rookie season a year ago, while averaging 7.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 71 games played so far.

Nesmith, who was recovering from an injury to start his NBA career, played in 46 games last season and averaged 4.7 points on 43.8% shooting and 37% from 3.

Langford's salary will have a cap hit of $5.6 million for the 2022-23 season and he'll be eligible to become a restricted free agent in the summer of 2023.

Williams' salary cap hit will be $4.3 million for the 2022-23 campaign and he'll also be eligible to become a restricted free agent in the summer of 2023.

Nesmith's salary cap hit will be $3.8 million for the 2022-23 season. The Celtics will hold a rookie scale team option for Nesmith at $5.6 million for 2023-24.

Pritchard's salary cap hit will be $2.2 million for the 2022-23 season. Boston has a rookie scale team option for the point guard worth $4.0 million for 2023-24 campaign.

All four options combined with other previously guaranteed contracts --barring any trades -- will have the Celtics at $120.7 million on the books for the 2022-23 season. The NBA salary cap is currently projected to be at $119 million for that same season.
