The NBA have granted the Celtics with an $8.4 million disabled-player exception for Gordon Hayward's leg injury.
According to Shams Charania of The Vertical, Danny Ainge can use the DPE to sign a free agent or trade for a player in the final year of their contract by March 10 deadline.

Hayward underwent successful surgery on his left ankle last week and has not been ruled out for the season. Whether Boston decides to use the league's player exception or not, the All-Star forward is still eligible to return if healthy.
