When the news broke that Robert Williams III was going to miss his Maine Red Claws game Thursday night, many wondered whether or not the Celtics first-round pick had a legitimate reason for sitting out on such late notice.
Turns out he had a really good excuse.
Williams, who posted a video of his newborn baby girl on Instagram Friday morning, missed his G-League game for the birth of his firstborn child.
Prior to Thursday night's Celtics game, Brad Stevens was asked about Williams' reason for the late scratch. It was a question that put a smirk on his face before he replied, "He is excused by all of us for a personal matter."
Many didn't know what to make of Stevens' response but now it's crystal clear.
