The Boston Celtics waived Jordan Mickey Friday, a necessary step before signing All-Star Gordon Hayward. https://t.co/8v3ldwrAXj
The 23-year old played in just 25 games this past season, averaging 1.5 points, 1.4 rebounds in 5 minutes per contest. Overall, Mickey made 41 total appearances for the Celtics over a two season span, never playing more than 19 minutes in any given game during his time in Boston.
The Celtics waived Mickey before the July 15 deadline and save approximately $1.5 million towards the 2017-18 salary cap. Danny Ainge has freed up some more cap space to officially sign Hayward and possibly 2016 first-rounder, draft and stash prospect Guerschon Yabusele to a contract as well.
Now the Celtics will need to make a decision on Demetrius Jacskon before his $1.35 million contract becomes guaranteed on July 15.
