Jabari Bird facing assault charges, including strangulation, kidnapping

Celtics guard Jabari Bird is facing assault and battery, including strangulation and kidnapping charges, following his arrest Friday night in Brighton.

According to local authorities, Bird will remain guarded and evaluated at St. Elizabeth's Hospital before he is officially booked. The unidentified victim was reportedly treated for injuries at a separate hospital.
"He is expected to appear in Brighton District Court on Monday, where complaints will be sought against him," Sergeant John Boyle, a spokesman for the Boston Police Department, said.
After finishing a non-guaranteed, one-year rookie contract, Celtics inked Bird to a two-year, $2.9 million deal over the summer.
