Celtics waive Dionte Christmas and Jamar Smith

According to sources, Dionte Christmas and Jamar Smith have both been waived by the Celtics this afternoon. Christmas, who passed up a big contract to play overseas, was rumored to be the frontrunner to make the final roster spot after his impressive play in the summer league and in the preseason. Smith, an undrafted rookie who played for the Maine Red Claws last season (Celtics' D-leauge affiliate) had a tough time seeing the floor throughout the preseason but like Christmas, impressed many during summer league play.

Both players will most likely be playing in the D-League this upcoming season.
