Celtics waive Kris Joseph, Jarvis Vernado

The Celtics have waived rookie Kris Joseph, and Jarvis Vernado.

Joseph, rookie out of Syracuse, was drafted by the Celtics with the 51st overall pick in the 2012 draft. Joseph averaged 17.7 points and 5.3 rebounds in 10 games with the Maine Red Claws of the NBDL. He only appeared in six games with the Celtics.

Vernado, former Miami Heat draft pick of the 2010 draft, was signed on Christmas Eve by the Celtics. He played five games with the Celtics and averaged 1.2 points in 4.0 minutes.

Comcast Sports Net has reported that according to league sources, the moves could have been made to make room for a "blockbuster deal." Some sources believe such a trade could involve Sacramento Kings' center DeMarcus Cousins.

We will keep you updated if anything unfolds.
