Kevin Garnett to retire After 21 Seasons

After reaching a buyout with the Minnesota Timberwolves earlier this week, Kevin Garnett took to Instagram to announce his retirement -- leaving behind a 21-year NBA career as one of the most gifted power forward the league has ever seen.

Garnett posted the video Friday afternoon. It showed Garnett walking alone on the Timberwolves' home court in the Target Center with him narrating.
"I'm just thankful. I can't even put that into words," Garnett says. "I'm just thankful. I'm just thankful for everybody and the love. I never would have thought that people love me like this. But, for it to be reality is just something else, man. Man."

The 40-year-old is undoubtedly a first-ballot hall-of-famer. He exits the league with career averages of 17.8 points, 10 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.4 blocks, 1.3 steals, and 2004 Most Valuable Player award, and one NBA championship with the 2008 Celtics.

He is one of only three players (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Karl Malone) to finish his NBA career with at least 25,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 5,000 assists.
