Celtics get Third Pick in NBA Draft Lottery

Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge & co. can begin the NBA Draft process, they now know where they will make their pick on June 23.

The Celtics will choose third.

The 76ers will pick first, before the Lakers pick second. It will be the first time the Celtics have had a pick in the top-3 since 1997 when they drafted Chauncey Billups out of Colorado.

Celtics All-star Isaiah Thomas represented the Celtics throughout the proceedings alongside owner Wyc Grousbeck, who hasn't made an appearance in the lottery room since 2007 -- when the Celtics were awarded the No. 5 pick.

With the third pick, the Celtics will most likely miss out on the chance of selecting standouts Ben Simmons out of LSU and Duke alum Brandon Ingram.

The Celtics have only had the first overall pick just once in franchise history. It happened in 1950 -- when they chose Charlie Share out of Bowling Green.
