Rondo promises to be back before all-star break

Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo didn't offer a date but vowed to return to the court before the all-star break.

According to Baxter Holmes of the Boston Globe, Rondo was very vague about an exact date but promised to return before the all-star break. Rondo also said that he will probably wake up one day and decide to play so he couldn't be specific about a return date. He doesn't know which day but knows it will happen within the next 33 days.

Lee, Bayless three-team deal made official



On a day when decisions had to be made before contracts became guarnteed in the NBA, the Celtics were awaiting league approval on a proposed trade that involved Memphis and Oklahoma City. The pending three team-trade since Sunday night, was made official by all parties on Tuesday.

Pelicans 95 - Celtics 92: Celtics lose third straight to Pelicans


Boston - The Celtics have started 2014 the same way they ended 2013; with another loss. Last night at TD Garden, Celtics loss its first game of the New Year in a close one to the Pelicans, 95-92. Despite losing one of their key players off the bench in Ryan Anderson early in the fourth quarter, New Orleans found a way to pull out the win.

Anderson had 13 points and seven rebounds before being taken out on a stretcher after colliding with Gerald Wallace.

MarShon Brooks assigned to the D-League

Shooting guard MarShon Brooks was assigned to the Celtics NBA Development League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws on Wednesday.

This will be the first time Brooks has played in the D-Leauge. He averaged 12.6 points in almost 30 minutes per game in his rookie season but didn't get much playing time last season in Brooklyn.

Brandon Bass, Jeff Green benched for the entire fourth quarter after argument

Late in the third quarter of Tuesday's game against the Hawks, Celtics forwards Brandon Bass and Jeff Green exchanged heated words on the bench, where they watched the final 18 minutes of the game after Coach Stevens benched both of his starters in a one-point loss at TD Garden.
