According to Shams Charania of RealGM, Celtics have re-signed forward Jae Crowder to a five-year, $35 million deal.
Crowder, who was dealt to Boston as a part of the Rajon Rondo trade to Dallas, emerged as one of the Celtics' best wing defenders last season and became a fan favorite in Boston. Known for his hard work and tenacity, re-signing Crowder was a no-brainer.
After the Celtics were swept out of the first round of the playoffs against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Danny Ainge, Celtics president of basketball operations, complimented Crowder for his tough defense on LeBron James and indicated that he would do his best to bring re-up Jae's contract in the off-season.
This is a money-saving deal for the C's. Crowder's $7 million per year deal is a bargain for the 24-year old, he's a versatile player who can play three different positions and can also defend the ball. He's also a guy who is still developing, at his age, Crowder's offense will only continue to get better.
As a member of the Celtics, Crowder averaged 7.7 points and 3.6 rebounds last season.
