The Celtics will be without Jaylen Brown, Derrick White and Jaden Springer tonight when they host the Sacramento Kings at TD Garden.
Brown, who was downgraded from questionable to out, has been nursing a left hand sprain since sustaining the injury in the team's 104-92 victory over the Pelicans last Saturday. However, the All-Star wing played 33 minutes and dropped 23 points with the injured wrist Wednesday against the Thunder in the C's 60th win of the season.
"I think I got like a sprain or a strain on a ligament in my hand," Brown said in his postgame comments. "I think it's fine, it's something I'm not concerned with going forward. But, it did bother me a little bit tonight. Part of it is working through it, playing through it -- cause that gives you a little bit of more information down the line if things were to get any worse. I think its nothing to be concerned about."
This will be Brown's 10th missed game -- his second this week, as he sat out a total of 15 last season.
Derrick White, a recent East Player of the Week , is sidelined with a lower back contusion, according the C's updated injury report.
#NEBHInjuryReport update:
— Boston Celtics (@celtics) April 5, 2024
Jaylen Brown (left hand sprain) - OUT
Jaden Springer (left knee tendinopathy) - OUT
Derrick White (low back contusion) - OUT https://t.co/xAX7YftODF
White is averaging 15.4 points on 46.6% shooting from the field, including 40.2% from 3-point range -- he'll be missing his seventh game of the year.
Springer, has only played 13 games since being traded to Boston in February and will miss his fifth straight outing with left knee tendinopathy -- which is tough blow for the Celtics when it comes to defending the Kings' star De'Aaron Fox in the backcourt with White also out.
Look for extended run for Payton Pritchard and Sam Hauser, especially when it comes to the duo connecting on the long ball. The Reigning East Coach of the Month; Joe Mazzulla may have his hands full with this high-scoring Sacramento team., as NBA TV has the tip-off at 7:30 pm ET.
