Celtics waive Perry Jones III

After concluding their preseason Friday night, the Celtics waived forward Perry Jones III and Corey Walden to trim their roster to the 15-man roster limit.

Jones, who was acquired from the Oklahoma City Thunder for a second round pick, had a tough time squeezing into the Celtics' crowded front court.

Perry's athleticism and size is what intrigued the Celtics over the summer but he only played 8.3 minutes throughout the preseason, averaging two points and 1.6 rebounds.

The Celtics also waived guard Corey Walden. Walden, who went undrafted this past June, was invited to training camp after playing for the Celtics in summer league. He's expected to be offered a deal with the Maine Red Claws of the NBA D-League.

Walden averaged 18.8 points, four rebounds, and 3.8 assists as a senior at Eastern Kentucky last year.
