The Celtics have won three in a row following a 110-100 victory over the Dallas Mavericks Tuesday night at American Airlines Center.
Jaylen Brown finished with 33 points on 15-of-29 from the field, to go along with 11 rebounds, while Payton Pritchard recorded 26 points, seven assists off the bench for the C's -- as they were without Anfernee Simons, who was reportedly traded to the Chicago Bulls for Nikola Vucevic just hours prior to tip-off.
"Anfernee has all the respect in the world from me -- it's a business, but there's a human aspect to it," Brown said in his postgame comments of Simons. "He's just a great, great person, great kid on and off the floor, just humble -- I hope he gets everything that he's looking for just because he just fit right in with this group of guys in our locker room."
Derrick White (eight assists) and Sam Hauser (five rebounds) each chipped in 11 points respectively for the Celtics, who improved to 32-18 on the season.
Copper Flagg had a game-high 36 points on 12-of-24 shooting, nine rebounds and six assists to lead the Mavericks -- who dropped to 19-31 in the standings out west. Caleb Martin scored 13 points and Daniel Gafford notched a double-double of 10 points, 12 rebounds in Dallas' fifth-straight loss.
Boston had a 52-44 advantage at the break before Luka Garza scored nine consecutive points during a 14-4 run to conclude the third quarter and give the Celtics a 86-67 lead heading into the final frame. Garza had 16 points, including hitting all four 3-pointers he attempted in 20 minutes off the bench.
The Celtics, who led by as many as 23, have now won six of their last eight games and will head to Houston to face the Rockets (31-17) Wednesday on a second-night of a back-to-back.
Game Notes:
Boston shot 49% from the field, including 13-of-39 (33%) from beyond the arc, while the Mavericks were 42% from the floor and 9-of-32 (28%) from deep. Dallas won the rebound battle 49-47 but were outscored in the paint 58-52. The Celtics dished out 27 assists on 47 baskets and committed 10 turnovers, while the home team had 21 dimes on 37 made shots and turned the ball over nine times.
