The Celtics have assigned rookie Jordan Walsh to their G League affiliate, the Maine Celtics -- the team announced Tuesday afternoon.
Walsh, who was selected with the 38th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, will most like receive plenty of opportunities to play up north as he has yet to make his regular season debut on the main roster. The 6-foot-6 wing developed a reputation for his great perimeter defense ahead of being drafted out of the University of Arkansas.
During Summer League in Las Vegas, Walsh caught the eye of many by showing off his offensive skill set after putting up 16 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting 42.2% from the field and 40.7% from behind the 3-point line in five games.
In three games played out of the Celtics five preseason tilts in October, Walsh averaged 2.3 points and 3.3 rebounds in just 13.7 minutes per contest.
While Boston's championship roster may hinder on Walsh's potential to win any playing time, he'll definitely get the chance for development in Maine, as the rookie will look to improve and be ready whenever called upon by Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla.
